To study associations  between arterial stiffness and bone mineral density in postmenopausal women.</p></sec><sec><title>Material and methods</title><p>Material and methods. The intima-media thickness  (IMT), the presence  and  number  of atherosclerotic  plaques  (AP) were studied  using  duplex scanning. Pulse wave velocity (PWV), augmentation index (AI) were measured by applanation. The Bone mineral density (BMD) of the spine, hip neck (HN) and proximal hip (PH) was measured using double energy x-ray absorptiometry.</p></sec><sec><title>Results</title><p>Results. A significant  correlation  of PWV  with  age,  duration  of menopause was  revealed,  a more pronounced correlation  was  noted  with  blood pressure (BP), maximum IMT thickness.  There was no significant  correlation  between  PWV  and BMD.  AI showed  a statistically  significant but weak negative  correlation  with  the HN  (rs=0.12, p&lt;0.05); a more  pronounced negative  correlation  was  obtained  for BMD  (rs=0.16, p&lt;0.01). For indicators characterizing the degree of bone mass increased,  there is a significant  correlation with age (rs=-0.4, p&lt;0.01), weight (rs=0.4, p&lt;0.01), Quetelet index (rs=0.3, p&lt;0.01) and the presence of AP (rs=-0.12, p&lt;0.05). According to the results of multivariate regression  analysis,  the most significant  predictors of arterial stiffness were indicators  reflecting  obesity and diastolic BP. The relationship  between BMD and age-adjusted vascular stiffness was not statistically significant.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion</title><p>Conclusion. In our study, postmenopausal women have increased arterial stiffness,  suggesting a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. The relationship between  bone mineral density and vascular  wall stiffness  was insignificant. To a greater extent,  arterial stiffness  depended  on age,  increased  blood pressure, and the presence of atherosclerotic  changes.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><sec><title>Цель</title><p>Цель. Изучить  ассоциацию между жесткостью артерий  и минеральной плотностью  кости у женщин в постменопаузальный период.</p></sec><sec><title>Материал и методы</title><p>Материал и методы. В одномоментное исследование включено 327 женщин от 45 до 90 лет, наблюдавшихся амбулаторно и подписавших информированное согласие. Критерием включения  считалось наличие  менопаузы  ≥1 года.  Толщина  комплекса  интима-медиа (КИМ), наличие  и количество атеросклеротических бляшек  (АСБ)  исследовались с помощью  дуплексного сканирования. Оценка  скорости  распространения пульсовой волны (СРПВ), индекса аугментации (ИА) проводилась методом аппланационной тонометрии. Минеральная плотность кости (МПК)  позвоночника, шейки  бедра (ШБ) и проксимального отдела бедра (ПОБ) измерялась с помощью  двухэнергетической рентгеновской  абсорбциометрии.</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты</title><p>Результаты. Выявлена значимая  корреляция СРПВ с возрастом, длительностью менопаузы, более выраженная корреляция отмечена с артериальным  давлением (АД), максимальной толщиной КИМ. Не получено значимой корреляции СРПВ с показателями, отражающими степень остеопороза (Т-критерий, МПК). Для ИА отмечена статистически значимая, но слабая  отрицательная корреляция с ШБ  (rs=0,12, p&lt;0,05); более выраженная отрицательная корреляция была получена  для МПК  (rs=0,16, p&lt;0,01). Для показателей, характеризующих степень снижения костной массы,  отмечается  наличие  значимой корреляции с возрастом (rs=-0,4, p&lt;0,01), с весом (rs=0,4, p&lt;0,01), индексом  Кетле (rs=0,3, p&lt;0,01) и наличием  АСБ (rs=-0,12, p&lt;0,05). По результатам многофакторного регрессионного анализа  наиболее  значимыми предикторами жесткости артерий  были показатели, отражающие ожирение  (вес, индекс Кетле)  и диастолическое АД (ДАД). Связь между МПК и жесткостью сосудов  с поправкой на возраст  не достигала статистической значимости.</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение. По данным нашего  исследования женщины  в постменопаузальном периоде имеют повышенную жесткость  артерий, что позволяет предположить у них более высокий риск сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний. Связь минеральной плотности  костной ткани с жесткостью сосудистой стенки была незначительной.
