To study effects of fixed combination of valsartan and amlodipine on of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) regression, microalbuminuria reduction and endothelium function in hypertensive patients with metabolic syndrome (MS).</p></sec><sec><title>Materials and methods</title><p>Materials and methods. 20 hypertensive patients (15 females and 5 males) with metabolic syndrome and a history of previous ineffective antihypertensive therapy were studied. Combined antihypertensive therapy was applied during 12-24 weeks. Amlodipine and valsartan dose was 5/160 or 10/160 mg/day depending on blood pressure level. Endothelial function, blood pressure level, urinary albumin excretion and LVH regression were estimated.</p></sec><sec><title>Results</title><p>Results. Blood pressure reduction to the target level was revealed. There was a significant reduction in microalbuminuria by -55.3±39.2% (р=0.022) in comparison with the baseline. Endothelium-dependent vasodilation increased in 3.6±7.2% (р=0.05) in comparison with baseline, LVH decreased by -9.1±12.4 g/m2 (р=0.021).</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion</title><p>Conclusion. Therapy with fixed combination of valsartan and amlodipine results in blood pressure and microalbuminuria reduction, endothelium-dependent vasodilation improvement, LVH regression in hypertensive patients with MS. These findings show that the fixed combination of these antihypertensives has a multifaceted impact on cardiovascular risk.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><sec><title>Цель</title><p>Цель. Изучить влияние фиксированной комбинации валсартан/амлодипин на регрессию гипертрофии миокарда левого желудочка (ГЛЖ), эндотелиальную функцию и экскрецию альбумина с мочой у больных артериальной гипертонией (АГ) в сочетании с метаболическим синдромом (МС).</p></sec><sec><title>Материал и методы</title><p>Материал и методы. В исследование включены 20 больных (5 мужчин и 15 женщин) АГ 2-3 степени в сочетании с МС, анамнезом предшествующей неэффективной гипотензивной терапии, которые в течение 12-24 нед получали терапию в виде фиксированной комбинации валсартан/амлодипин в суточной дозе 5/160 и 10/160 мг в зависимости от уровня артериального давления (АД). Оценивали изменение АД, биохимических параметров крови под действием валсартана/амлодипина, а также динамику экскреции альбумина с мочой, регрессии ГЛЖ и эндотелий-зависимой вазодилатации плечевой артерии.</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты</title><p>Результаты. Прием фиксированной комбинации валсартан/амлодипин сопровождался снижением систолического и диастолического АД, а также микроальбуминурии (на 55,3±39,2%, р=0,022) и приростом эндотелий-зависимой вазодилатации (на 3,6±7,2%, р=0,05). Выявлена регрессия ГЛЖ (на -9,1±12,4 г/м2, р=0,021).</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение.
